People living with HIV/AIDS face unique psychological and social challenges. Such psychological difficulties arise from HIV disease itself, anti-HIV treatment, HIV/AIDS-related stress and uncertainty, and grieving the loss of HIV-positive loved ones. On a societal level, people living with HIV/AIDS also often face stigma and discrimination.
